While not all medication can be given with food, most pills can be wrapped in a pill pocket to make it a yummy treat for your dog to swallow. Keep an eye on your dog until their mouth is empty. It's possible a dog might bite into the pill pocket and taste the pill, then spit it out.

Some pills are big! And not every medicine comes in the right dose. You may need a pill cutter to split up pills that are bigger than your dog's dosage or to make the pills easier for your dog to swallow.

Some dogs can get distracted when you're trying to give them pills. That's why it's a good idea to have some fun toys on hand just in case. Get their attention with a quick squeak.

Non-slip mats are a lifesaver, especially for senior dogs or dogs who eat on slippery surfaces. Yoga mats work great for dogs. Just set up under their feeding area, and have a more supportive surface to give your dog pills on.
