Best Dog Crates

Dogs are part of the family and deserve the best, most comfortable and secure dog crates. However, because no two dogs are the same, there isn’t a single best dog crate for all dogs or situations. After researching and reviewing more than 30 dog crates including travel crates, dog playpens, and wire crates, we’ve created a listing of AKC approved dog crates that are great options for your four-legged best friends. We’ve surveyed thousands of dog owners and since not all dogs have the same needs, we’ve found the best dog beds across different attributes and pricing options. Here are some things you should consider before picking out the best dog crate for your pup.

Dog Crate Sizes

Before picking out the best dog crate, it’s important to determine what size dog crate is best for your dog. When you’re selecting a size, you should look at your dog’s breed and weight. If you’re looking for a dog crate for a puppy, you should probably think about the size they’ll grow to be if you don’t want to buy another dog crate later. If you purchase a wire dog crate like the “MidWest Life Stages Double Dog Metal Dog Crate,” your dog should be able to stand up and turn around, but shouldn’t have much more room than that.

Dog Crate Types

When you’re deciding which type of dog crate to choose, you’ll want to think about what you’ll be using it for and what type your dog would prefer. There are a range of dog crate types to pick from. If you plan on traveling with your dog, consider a portable dog crate or travel crate, including this portable dog crate “Dogit Deluxe Soft Crate.” If you’re looking for an everyday crate, consider a wire dog crate or plastic crate. If you want your dog to have room to roam, think about purchasing a dog pin rather than a crate.

Dog Crate Feature

It can be tough picking out the perfect dog crate for your four-legged best friend. To help, we’ve reviewed a variety of dog crates with different features such as being travel-friendly, easy to clean, waterproof fabric, and washable fabric. Like picking out a type, you should consider what you’re using it for when you’re choosing important features. If you’re searching for a dog playpen that can fold flat, consider purchasing one like the “Midwest Foldable Metal Exercise Pen.” If you need a dog crate great for indoor and outdoor use with machine-washable fabric, look into a soft dog crate such as the “EliteField 3-Door Folding Soft Dog Crate.”

Dog Crate Material

Dog crates come in many different shapes, sizes, and materials like plastic, cloth, and wire. Plastic dog crates like the “Petmate Sky Kennel” are secure and moveable, which is ideal for travel. Other crates like soft travel crates, aren’t as sturdy but may be more comfortable for your dog and better for air travel. Wire crates are also secure, but wouldn’t be ideal for on the go pups.

Now that you know what factors to consider, you’re ready to look for the best dog crate for your pup. Along with wire dog crates, you’ll find great dog crates we’ve selected including travel crates and dog playpens to keep your dog secure and comfortable.
